This sophisticated wedding invitation design comes to us from Rachelyn Halliday of Pocadot Invitations, based in Sydney, Australia! Here’s Rachelyn to tell us more:
Carissa (a close friend of mine) was the bride, and also a fellow graphic designer who loves elaborate designs, bright and contrasting colours and anything glamorous. The couple chose to have their wedding at one of Sydney’s glamorous venue, Dunbar House in Watsons Bay. I had the challenge of capturing this stylish and glamorous event into a physical, tangible form of an invitation that incorporated pink florals and gold accents!
See more after the cut!
We bounced ideas of each other on Pinterest mainly, lots of emails and phone calls until we came up with the main elements needed to convey the theme of their wedding without crossing over to the tacky line. Carissa, went through my invitation process as any other bride, which involves my guidance to choosing your invitation shape and coordinating cards required, choosing your own wording from a few options, fonts selection and card materials for her invitations, not forgetting printing options.
One side of the main card features a peony (Carissa’s favourite flower) in shades of pink which was her main wedding colour. The 2nd side, had the main details of the wedding with their names in gold foil. For the ‘Gift Registry’ & RSVP cards we had them in alternating colours of gold and pink to bring a bold splash of colour to the trio of cards. A gold circle tag and gold cord brought the the cards together in a perfect layered package. The edges of all the cards were finished of with gold shimmer, for that extra detail.
Pinterest was our best friend and worst enemy at times. We created a mood-board to bring all her ideas together to make sure it worked well. Carissa’s favourite flower the peony was featured on the invitations as well. Working with a designer and a close friend was the best part of the whole process but also a challenge to say the very least, but we did it! And she was extremely happy with the result. Mission accomplished!
